  1. 8 bread slices
  2. 2 large potato, boiled, peeled, and mashed
  3. 1/4 cup green peas (fresh or frozen), steamed
  4. 2 Tbsp + 1/3 cup dried breadcrumbs
  5. 1/4 cup grated cabbage
  6. 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
  7. 1 tsp lemon juice
  8. 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  9. 1-2 green chilies, seeded and finely chopped
  10. 1/2 tsp grated ginger
  11. 4 tbsp oil
  12. Water
  13. salt 
  14. 2 cheese cubes and tomato ketchup, for garnishing

How to make Bread Cutlets


  • Warmth 1-tablespoon oil in a container on medium warmth. Add finely chopped onion and fry it till it turns light pink in color, it will take 1-2 minutes. Add grated ginger and green chilies and fry them for 25 seconds.
  • Add grated cabbage, boiled peas, and garam masala powder.
  • Fry them for 1-2 minutes. Switch off the gas and take out the mixture in a bowl. Let it cool down for 3-4 minutes.
  • Dunk the bread cuts in water and take them out right away. Squeeze the slices to remove excess water and add to the cooked vegetable mixture. Add mashed potatoes, 2 Tbsp dried breadcrumbs, lemon juice, and salt.
  • Mix well and make a mixture. Taste it for salt and add more salt if needed.
  • Gap the combination into 8 equivalent bits and shape each segment into a circle. If the mixture feels wet, you can add 1-2 tbsp dry breadcrumbs. Take each ball and press it between the palms to make 1/2 inch thick patties (tikkis).
  • Take 1/3 cup dry breadcrumbs on a plate. Wrap each patty with breadcrumbs and put it on a plate. Similarly, make all the patties.
  • Heat 2-3 tsp oil in a non-stick pan on medium flame. Place 2-3 cutlets in the pan and let them cook till the bottom surface turns light golden brown.
  • Flip them gently, apply 1-tsp oil on each and cook till the other side turns golden brown. Fry them in oil till they turn golden brown in color from both sides. It will take about 2 minutes for each side to turn golden brown in color. Take them out on a plate.
  • Similarly, fry all the cutlets in oil. Garnish with grated cheese and tomato ketchup on the cutlets. The breaded cutlet is ready to be served.
